
Celebration of the 63rd anniversary of Victory Day March 19, 1962/2025
In commemoration of the activities celebrating the 63rd anniversary of Victory Day, March 19, 1962/2025, under the slogan:
“FOLLOWING THE FOOTSTEPS OF VICTORY, IN FULFILLMENT OF THE PATH OF THE FREE PEOPLE”
The Tourism and Handicrafts Directorate organized a rich program to commemorate this historic day, which extended throughout the week, from March 16 to March 20, 2025, where activities included the following:
- Organizing a meeting at the Tourism and Handicrafts Directorate with tourism activists to discuss the promotion of tourist trails, particularly historical ones, and its role in the state’s tourism development by providing:

- A presentation by the Director of Tourism on the directorate’s efforts to promote the abundant tourism opportunities in the state of Chlef, as they have been developed into tourist itineraries, which have so far reached 42 tourist trails. Work will be carried out to reach as many trails as possible, given the state’s abundant tourism potential. In this regard, he emphasized that the importance of tourist trails lies in the fact that they are a factor of attraction for tourists, researchers, and even investors, which qualifies the province of Chlef as a tourist destination in its own right.
- A presentation by the President of the Manara Association, with the participation of university students, focused on the importance of promoting and marketing historical tourist trails in the province of Chlef and leveraging scientific research in this field, in addition to targeting the educational space, as it is the appropriate environment for creating a tourism culture.
- A presentation by the Director of Tourism on the directorate’s efforts to promote the abundant tourism opportunities in the state of Chlef, as they have been developed into tourist itineraries, which have so far reached 42 tourist trails. Work will be carried out to reach as many trails as possible, given the state’s abundant tourism potential. In this regard, he emphasized that the importance of tourist trails lies in the fact that they are a factor of attraction for tourists, researchers, and even investors, which qualifies the province of Chlef as a tourist destination in its own right.
These two presentations provided an opportunity to open a discussion on ways to embody and evaluate tourist trails and the obstacles encountered. This discussion also led to work on the proposal of trails that will be submitted to the Directorate for study according to the conditions required for the development of a tourist trail.
- An exhibition of traditional handicrafts was organized in coordination with the Chamber of Traditional Crafts and Trades at the House of Traditional Crafts (Ben Souna Chlef district, Chattia). This exhibition featured the participation of male and female artisans in various traditional craft activities such as basketry, dom, traditional clothing, artistic artifacts, and other traditional artistic crafts. All week long, from Sunday, March 16, 2025, to March 20, 2025.

- A meeting with artisans engaged in common activities during the colonial period, including:
Interview with artisan Naqaz Muhammad Harfi, a pottery maker. He spoke about the importance of preserving the identity of this craft, despite the attempts of brutal colonialism to erase it. Algerians have embraced this craft over the generations, particularly in the state of Chlef, which relied on it in its time and contributed to its protection and preservation, as it has become an integral part of its cultural heritage. -
A meeting with artisan Mezouar Zoulikha, a craftswoman specializing in the production of woven and doums, where she discussed the evolution of this craft over the generations and the ways to preserve it despite the challenges and difficulties it has encountered, particularly in the state of Chlef, which has remained committed to this traditional craft while making modifications that reflect the region’s identity.
